Ho Ho Ho!!!
With less than 4 weeks to Christmas I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I am one of the fortunate ones who gets to have a break over the Christmas period, mainly because my clients are either on leave or flat out during this time. Many of our members will also be on the countdown to their holidays, while others are gearing up for the even bigger rush to come.
Whatever your plans are this festive season, we’d like to wish you a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.

Hunter Women Connect – an outstanding success!
On Tuesday 24th November, we co-hosted the first major combined women’s networks event in the Hunter Region.
Fort Scratchley was the venue for a unique cocktail event that saw 200 local women come together to network and raise money for Jenny’s Place - Women and Children’s Refuge. Due to the generous sponsorship of Colonial First State/Commonwealth Financial Planning and support from Newcastle City Council, Purser Corporate Communication, Aussie Wine Group, AJM Photography, Wrapped to You, Endota Spa Newcastle, Amaranthine Flowers by Design and Quality Hotel Noahs on the Beach, we raised over $2000 for this very worthy cause.
Our Lady Mayoress, Cathy Tate graciously opened the event and she was followed by 9 singers from the Sudanese Womens Choir. The colour, energy and joy these women brought to the room was infectious. We had a bit of excitement throughout their performance though, due to a rather sensitive smoke alarm in the bar area, leading to the arrival of the fire brigade!
The Hunter Women Connect committee will commence planning early January for the 2010 Hunter Regional Womens Conference to be held in May (previously planned for March). We will be sending a brief online survey to find out what you want from your conference – stay tuned….

Networking tip # 7
Ask people questions and really listen to the answer. Don’t feel like you need to be doing all of the talking. Most people love to talk about themselves, so if you show an interest in others, you will be memorable in a positive way.
Quote for the month
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human,
enough hope to make you happy.
If I don’t see you before, have an awesome Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all in 2010!
