Dressed to Impress at our October event!

Eighty women were inspired and entertained at our Hunter Women in Fashion event!  Making it happen on the night was a big ‘member team effort’ lead by HBWN committee members Sharon Waterhouse and Clare Monkley.

Our fashionistas Vanessa, Sheena and Kristy were very inspiring in sharing their love of the fashion industry.  We were amazed by the transformation of the outfits from day wear to glamorous during the styling sessions.  The Black Swan collection, accessories from 2temptu and Westfield race wear gave us lots of looks and options to consider.

The Frock on! models looked stunning on the catwalk and proved their versatility helping pack the show bags.  Lisa and the wonderful crew from Blue Lotus did a brilliant job with the models hair and make-up.

The event was well supported by Janette and her staff from our major sponsors of the event -  Hunter TAFE.  The efforts of Kristy, Sarah and the team at Westfield was much appreciated for our overflowing show bags and all the fabulous fashion and accessories on show from their  retailers.

Our photographers Jacqui Clancy & James Gerrard did a tremendous job working in and out of our spotlight and around the room to capture the stylish designs on the catwalk. Last but not least, a big thank you as always to the Noahs staff who created the ideal fashion catwalk atmosphere.

Hunter Women Connect – a first for our Region

No single organisation can meet the needs of everyone. We are very fortunate that in the Hunter there are a variety of groups that together provide opportunities for all women.

On Tuesday 24th November, we are going to celebrate this by bringing together four established women’s groups, (Hunter Business Women’s Network; genX Women; Women’s Network Hunter; and Business & Professional Women (BPW) Maitland) plus the Hunter Business Centre – in the one place on one night!

Our Lady Mayoress, Cathy Tate will open the event followed by entertainment by our ‘surprise’ guests. There will be lucky door prizes and a raffle and all proceeds from the evening will go to Jenny’s Place - Women and Children’s Refuge. The networking and fellowship opportunities will be tremendous.

The venue is the new function room at Fort Scratchley overlooking the beach. Tickets are limited so to ensure you don’t miss out on this unique experience.  BOOK Now!

Christmas Party

Wednesday 9th December – you won’t want to miss this one!

Meet the members

In the last three months we have had over 30 new members join the Network. Our membership base covers an amazing variety of businesses and industries, too many to mention in this newsletter.

Why not have a look for opportunities to do business with another HBWN member – on our website we have an easy to access Members Directory. Just go to the member’s area and you can search by category or name. While you are there, make sure that your details are correct so that other members can out what they need to know about you.

Our website has some great ‘members only’ features - don’t forget to take advantage of our Community Wall – just like Kylie Armstrong from Tonic Natural Health did to advertise her office space for lease. If you have any questions regarding our site, please contact our Web Manager This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

New business card

Because so many of us are asked about HBWN and the benefits of joining, we now have a new HBWN business card. If you would like to have some cards to help spread the word about our fantastic network, email me or collect some from our November event

Regional Women’s Conference – sponsors needed

Our combined networking groups (Hunter Women Connect) are in the planning stages of a major women’s conference to be held in March 2010 and we are looking for sponsors.  If you are interested in supporting the conference, please email me or phone 4927 5554

Networking tip # 6

Follow up on contacts made.  Send ‘great to meet you’ emails to new contacts and thank you notes (or emails) to the event hosts.  It’s a really positive way to keep the networking happening.
