July Dinner – a huge success!

‘Leadership in Tough Times’ was the topic for our amazing speaker Margaret Harrison at our July 8 dinner.

Here is some of the feedback we received from attendees:

…If you are contacting Margaret please let her know that I thought she was very generous in sharing her journey not only in its achievements and outcomes externally but on a personal level as well. That generosity and humbleness is very unique in leaders and I think very inspiring and attractive. Nicole Bennett

Last night was wonderful - Margaret is an inspiration and her sense of humour a delight to find in a speaker. Also - many wise words for the whole audience - take your pick of what we each can do and follow up in our own lives. Julie Midson-York

Congratulations to the organisers of the July HBWN event. The caliber of Margaret’s presentation was outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed her story, captivated and entertained from the opening minute to the final narrative of Boarding School Boy. Her experiences which she willingly shared with us were inspirational. Karen Bates

August Dinner – The Art of Networking, 12 August

In our recent survey, the key reason for coming to HBWN was networking and meeting like minded women. Our August event takes a different approach from regular HBWN functions in that we won’t be having an after-dinner speaker. Instead the focus will be on the art of networking and we will have a number of successful local women as our ‘table hosts’. Their job will be to share their business story with the women at their table and talk about how networking has worked for them. We will also have some fun networking activities throughout the night and tips on how to network effectively. This night is a must if you would like to learn more about this necessary business skill as well as make new contacts! Get your friends together and book NOW!

Our sponsor for the evening is Health for Industry health_services_australia_group

September – Health and Wellbeing Expo, 9 September

Following the success of our June mini expo we will be giving our members who are involved in the health and wellbeing industries, the opportunities to showcase their businesses at our September expo. Looking after ourselves is often something that takes a back seat as we become busier in our day to day work life; however, logically we know that if we don’t nurture ourselves it’s almost impossible to look after our businesses or anyone else. Come along to the expo to maximise YOUR health and wellbeing.

Website update

Population of the new site is progressing well.  Some members have already received their user name and passwords and are updating their profile easily in the site.  For those that haven't you will be receiving an email soon!  Deb will be available to answer any questions you may have at the next meeting.  Your feedback on our community wall is very much appreciated.

Networking Tip # 3

Don’t forget your business cards! You never know when you will need to give your contact details to a prospective client. Make them part of your pre-networking checklist along with (1) a not too heavy handbag, and (2) comfortable shoes if it’s a stand up event!

This month’s quote….

“I don’t respect the opinions of those I don’t respect” thanks to Karen Howard, NineWays Business Centre
